Ford has finally jumped on the bandwagon of automakers with their own line of e-bikes. The company has collaborated with bike manufacturer N+ to introduce two new e-bikes inspired by two of its most iconic models, the Bronco and Mustang. According to Ford, the pair of e-bikes are directly tied to the two storied models, making them unique. “We know the passion and thrill that gets unlocked when people get behind the wheel of a Bronco and Mustang,” Tyler Hill, Ford’s global brand licensing manager, said in a statement. “These new eBikes will allow more people to experience the adventurous spirit of a Bronco and the exhilaration of a Mustang from the moment they grip the handlebars.”
Both the Ford e-bikes feature a 750-watt hub-mounted motor that is capable of churning out 85Nm (around 62 lb.-ft) of torque. They are classified as Class 3 e-bikes, which means they can hit a top speed of 28mph despite the lack of a throttle.
The company says the battery will offer a range of 60 miles, depending on route, riding style, and power usage, while it will take up to 3.5 hours to fully recharge. Furthermore, both e-bikes will come with four-piston hydraulic brakes and a full-color LCD panel.
Paying homage to the legendary Ford SUV, the Bronco e-bike is designed to be rugged and handle rough terrain with ease. The highlight of this e-bike is its dual-suspension system, which Ford is calling a GOAT (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain).
Additionally, the Bronco e-bike is fitted with a motorcycle-inspired seat and features both front and rear LED lights. The Bronco e-bike is priced at $4500, and the standard Area 51 blue color is offered without any additional charge. Buyers can upgrade to one of 10 additional colors for an extra $390.
The Mustang e-bike is largely similar to the Bronco e-bike, except for a few differences. Instead of the long bench seat, this version comes fitted with a more traditional bike saddle. The e-bike sports Mustang’s galloping horse logo and gets Mustang-style triple-bar tail light. Designed for road use, it gets Pirelli Angel GT semi-slick tires, which the company says will “optimize the Mustang for speed and handling, enhancing safety and rider confidence.”
