As video game billionaire Gabe Newell took delivery of his brand new 363-foot-long superyacht Leviathan, the world shifted focus to the new. His fleet, though, includes some very interesting ships, the oldest of which is the 258-foot Rocinante, a stunning Lürssen masterpiece perhaps named after the gunship in The Expanse. Like his former support vessel Dapple, which was sold for $30 million to Mark Zuckerberg and became Wingman (now Kalm and owned by Nancy Walton Laurie), even this 2008 floating mini-cruise ship is departing the Gabe Newell fleet. Listed for nearly $106 million with Y.CO, this gorgeous boat will be at the Palm Beach International Boat Show 2026.

She underwent a beauty overhaul in 2024, involving fixes like a new bridge, a full repaint, and significant upgrades across all major technical, mechanical, and guest areas. Under Newell’s ownership, Rocinante has also completed both her 10-year and 15-year classification surveys, proof of the serious money spent on maintenance and safety.

This 10-month refit has left her beaming, boasting the lines of Espen Oeino International and interiors by Alberto Pinto in full glory. After a decade of sailing with her, billionaire Gabe Newell is now parting ways with the ship that made long stays comfortable in her full-beam owner’s suite.

The gaming tycoon, who is known to now live aboard his superyachts full time, enjoyed on Rocinante a private office area, twin dressing rooms, and twin en-suite bathrooms, and to unwind, he could simply step onto his private terrace with its own Jacuzzi. He has said his day is “get up, work, go scuba diving, work some more, then either a second dive or the gym,” and that he works seven days a week from his bedroom. As was seen in Dapple, even Rocinante features a hospital next to the suite, which can be converted into an 8th guest cabin.

Yes, Rocinante is ample, with a volume of 2,334 GT, and she sleeps 14 guests in 7 cabins. It can be quite the venue for a party, especially on the main deck with a massive salon and a bar. Lunch is served a few steps up in a conversation-friendly circular dining room. Right adjacent is another upper-saloon that doubles as a cinema.

Sounds like a charming way to spend summers, right? That is done, thankfully, without skipping your fitness routines, as Rocinante boasts a gym with a fold-down balcony so you can post that glass-over-water treadmill shot on Instagram. It also allows calm to become a part of your routine with a hammam, massage room, and beauty salon. A jet-stream pool plus a separate Jacuzzi, bar, and multiple lounging zones make the sundeck a congenial spot.

For the Oceanco owner, Rocinante may not have been his fleet’s largest ship; he has the $500 million Leviathan for that. But Rocinante is in every way capable of being another well-heeled individual’s mothership. She is even equipped with a helideck capable of taking an EC135, with refuelling.

This power-packed mean machine gets its power from twin 2,682 hp Caterpillar engines and provides a top speed of 17 knots and a maximum range of 6,000 nautical miles when navigating at cruising speed. It would not be wrong to say Gabe Newell used Rocinante as a tester before moving on to the $250 million Tranquility and then the mammoth 363-foot Leviathan. Impressive nonetheless, it is time for Rocinante to give someone else the pleasure of owning their own private luxury vessel.
