Koenigsegg CCXR crash costs $1,196,944

Catastrophes can be painful no doubt but what about the catastrophe which costs $1,196,944…that’s real bad, I pity the owner like hell! Anyone familiar with the BBC’s Top Gear program will know that they’re not afraid of pushing their test cars to the limit. It’s probably not a huge surprise that when they asked to borrow a one-off Bio Fuel-powered Koenigsegg CCXR; the manufacturer insisted that a senior Koenigsegg engineer drive the 1018hp, 250mph supercar between photographic locations. All was going well until one of the engineers “hit a cone” which had been left on the inside of a corner, lost control, and crashed, causing tens of thousands of pounds worth of damage. The conservative estimate of their speed when they hit cone was 120mph. The tire tracks from the skid were apparently 265 meters long (about 875 feet!).

Powered by a 4.7-liter biofuel V8 engine and fitted with twin superchargers, this environmental supercar of the future had been bought for $1,196,944 but was valued at much more than that. Talk about fate taking your money away.
