Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive a zero-emission supercar for $537K

Mercedes Benz SLS AMG is definitely an outstanding supercar. At the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the German carmaker unveiled the world’s most powerful street-ready car, the Electric Mercedes Benz AMG. With 740hp packed under its belt, the car can go from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds, extremely fast for an electric car. With a blue liquid metal look that Mercedes likes to call AMG electric beam Magno, this car looks as furious as it is on the inside. What’s the catch, you ask?

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive has a top speed of 155 mph which is great for an electric car, but its range is limited to 155 mph, so drive around for an hour for two and half hours more before it recharges completely. The car is priced at $540,000, which is way too high compared to even a Ferrari 458 Spider, let alone an electric car. Maybe this is Mercedes’ first step into electric supercars and I hope we can look at something more cost-effective in the coming days.
