This one-of-a-kind $2+ million Pininfarina Battista Targa is what happens when a 6’6″ Michael Jordan wants the world’s fastest roofless car

Automobili Pininfarina must have a great relationship with Michael Jordan. The basketball superstar and well-known car collector has commissioned a one-off Pininfarina Battista Targa, presumably to fit his 6 ft 6 in frame inside. The Pininfarina Battista has a limited production run of just 150 units, of which Jordan’s Battista Targa is the only one. Not just that, Pininfarina has confirmed that it will remain the only roofless Battista ever. How’s that for exclusivity?

The Battista Targa made a few waves earlier at the Monterey Car Week, leaving people wondering who the lucky owner was. With news that that lucky person was indeed Michael Jordan, one of the greatest basketball players of all time, it makes perfect sense. While the company hasn’t confirmed that Jordan’s one-off electric hypercar was specified as a Targa so that he would fit, that’s another thing that does make sense.

That being said, Jordan does fit in other cars in his multi-million dollar collection, which includes the likes of a 1989 Porsche 930 Turbo Slantnose, a 1992 Ferrari 512 TR, and a 2023 Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution Roadster. The last does boast a targa top, so maybe Jordan does prefer slightly more headroom every now and then.

The Pininfarina Battista is already one of the world’s fastest electric cars and in rarefied company, with 1,877 horsepower courtesy of four electric motors and a 120kWh battery, a 0-60mph time under 2 seconds, and a 217mph top speed. It can even do 280 miles on a single charge if driven sensibly. There’s no official word on the Battista Targa’s performance numbers. Still, convertible or topless supercars are usually a few tenths off their coupe counterparts on account of added weight. Even if Jordan’s Battista Targa is slower, there’s got to be ultimate bragging rights in being the only one of its kind in existence.
