A white Ferrari F40 isn’t something you saw everyday back when it was launched. Of the 1,311 units of the Ferrari F40 made between 1987 and 1992, it’s said only two were painted white from factory. So seeing a white F40, especially one hanging from the ceiling of a luxury home as a makeshift chandelier, understandably got a lot of people really excited, and really angry. That is, until they realized the short video was posted by an account named ‘Kylec3D’, and the owner of said account is an exceptionally gifted digital artist and 3D modeler.
Kyle C, a 21-year-old based in Florida, seemingly has an obsession with older BMWs and Ferrari F40s. His website calls out to his skills in 3D animation, 3D modeling, art direction and social media marketing, and going by the quality of the post that has 2.5 million likes and counting, all the above mentioned skills are top notch.
The video really is ultra realistic, and it takes a couple of passes to realize that it can’t be real. For one, the cable stays at the rear of the F40 are attached to the spoiler that’s part of the F40’s stunning bodywork. Considering the Ferrari F40 wore bodywork made wholly of carbon fiber, that’s a stretch. Fun fact: the Ferrari F40 is the world’s first production car to use carbon fiber bodywork, though it was referred to as Kevlar back then.
Another dead giveaway is the fact that the artists’ name is on the television screen behind the car, though we reckon anyone rich enough to actually hang THE ‘80s supercar icon from the ceiling may also be egotistical enough to have his name displayed on his walls. All said and done, the viral post of the world’s most expensive chandelier (actual antique chandeliers just about touch the $1 million mark) could give a millionaire with more money than sense some ideas. We just hope that if someone does actually go through with it, they use a replica Ferrari F40 and not the real deal.
