Trust Rolls Royce to go to unbelievable ends to make a customer’s vision a reality. The Rolls-Royce Phantom Cherry Blossom is an ode to the age-old Japanese tradition of ‘Hanami’, the viewing of the cherry blossoms or Sakura in spring. It’s a magical season that people travel to Japan from all across the world to view, and Rolls-Royce has now immortalized it with a special commission.
Envisioned by a Japanese client and Rolls-Royce Bespoke, the Phantom Cherry Blossom is a special one-off that’s been three years in the making in tribute of the week-long occurrence.
To illustrate the level of detail and work that goes into such a visionary Rolls-Royce build, the Starlight Headliner itself took over three weeks to complete. Hand stitches, all 250,000 of them carried out by one craftsman, make up the cherry branch and flowers, giving the impression that one is sitting below a cherry blossom tree in the spring.
Special for sure, and also the first time Rolls-Royce has featured embroidery in a headliner. The embroidery carries over to the privacy partition and rear doors, a feat that took another six months to complete.
Rolls-Royce has even created bespoke sakura-themed umbrellas for this commission, featuring delicate falling petal motifs. The Phantom Cherry Blossom keeps the beauty of its exteriors simple, featuring Crystal over Arctic White paint. The hand-painted pinstripe, or Coachline in Rolls-Royce talk, also features a cherry blossom motif to round things off.
This is one Rolls-Royce Bespoke build that truly shows that even the most delicate of ideas can be transformed into something as special to behold as spring time in Japan. We wonder if the owner will drive their bespoke Phantom all year round though…
