Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin will soon begin selling tickets for rides on its space tourism rocket and we can’t keep calm! The company made the announcement in a nearly minute-long video featuring Bezos himself and the New Shepard rocket. Blue Origin did not reveal how much tickets will cost, only saying that more details will come on May 5. New Shepard is designed to carry six people at a time, past the edge of space, with the capsules on previous test flights reaching an altitude of more than 340,000 feet. New Shepard is equipped with a 60-foot-tall rocket booster that blasts the capsule at up to three times the speed of sound as it hurtles toward outer space. The capsule, which has extensive windows to maximize the celestial experience for passengers, spends as much as 10 minutes in zero gravity before returning to Earth.
Blue Origins hasn’t announced when tickets will be available or what they will run for, but the front page of its website now shows a countdown to the announcement. “Sign up to learn how you can buy the very first seat on New Shepard,” the website reads. You can toss your email in if you’re intrigued by going starward.
