While Dubai is known for building everything bigger, the Dubai Sphere will be a fraction of the size of its Las Vegas counterpart. Drastically scaled down, it will have a capacity of just 300 seats, a minuscule percentage compared to the Las Vegas Sphere’s 18,600-seat capacity.

One Earth is enough for the moon to orbit, but one moon is certainly not enough for the planet. Dubai, already shining brightly with its luxurious surroundings, imposing architecture, and unmatched grandeur, is set to boast a new moon, one that rivals the Populous-designed Las Vegas Sphere, built by U.S. business mogul James Dolan. MGM Resorts is developing its own version, the dazzling Dubai Sphere, which will emulate the MSG Sphere, not in size but comes pretty close in grandeur and impact.

Dubai was to earlier build a $5 billion Sphere.

Like the 366-foot sphere off the Las Vegas Strip, the Dubai Sphere will be located between the MGM Grand, Bellagio, and Aria. However, the Dubai version has been significantly scaled down and will accommodate just 300 seats, compared to the Las Vegas venue’s 18,000-seat capacity.

Part of Wasl’s $2 billion megaproject, The Island, a Las Vegas-style destination boasting 1,400 hotel rooms, apartments, shops, and restaurants the Sphere will still be a remarkable feat, according to Skift, promising an extraordinary visual experience as the stunning centerpiece of this grand development.

Upon completion, the Sphere will debut with a narrative celebrating Dubai’s rapid growth over the last 35 years, creating an unforgettable experience. However, the project’s completion date is yet to be announced. Interestingly, a similar plan for a 300-foot replica of the MSG Sphere in East London was scrapped due to local opposition. That version was expected to accommodate 21,500 visitors. What wasn’t London’s cup of tea seems a perfect fit for Dubai, home to iconic landmarks like the Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab. The Dubai Sphere is poised to become an essential stop for those seeking the pinnacle of luxury travel.
