Asia is home to several famed racing circuits that host leading motorsports events every year along with throwing open the race track to the general public on open track days. However, unlike the US and Europe, Asia has never had a private driving club that offers access to a private race track along with giving its members the benefits of a private club. But that’s about to change with The Magarigawa Club – Asia’s first private driving club – which is scheduled to open in late 2022. Cornes & Company Ltd. started the construction work earlier this year in Spring and it is located in Chiba Prefecture of Japan. The location is perfect given the fact that it’s just 60 minutes away from the Tokyo metropolitan area and is nestled in the mountains offering spectacular views of Mt. Fuji and Tokyo Bay.
The Magarigawa Club will get its own unique 3.5-kilometer driving course which was designed by the world-renown team at Tilke Engineers & Architects. With a maximum ascent of 20%, maximum descent of 16%, and an 800-meter long straight, the circuit promises to be unlike any other in the world. The circuit will have state-of-the-art, climate-controlled pit building with storage for up to 36 vehicles and access to professional racing drivers for one-on-one lessons. The private club will also have its own clubhouse that will have facilities such as a bar, a restaurant with a view of the track and the mountains surrounding the area, a family lounge area, a fitness center, a 25m swimming pool, spa facilities, and natural hot spring baths. The club’s design combines elements from both traditional Japanese and contemporary architecture. “Magarigawa will be home for car lovers. A sanctuary where members will be able to enjoy and share their passion with friends and family,” said Kenzo Watari, CEO, Cornes Group. “It will be the answer to the perennial question — where do you drive an 800 horsepower supercar?” In case you want a membership, you’ll have to wait as the first round of applications for membership are sold out.
