Tour the Japanese countryside in a luxury sleeper train by 2016

Japanese train operator JR East has announced plans of starting a luxury train service in the quake-struck regions of Tohoku and Shinetsu. Scheduled to commence operations from spring 2016, the interiors and exteriors of the sleeper train will be designed by renowned industrial designer Ken Okuyama who has designed products for Ferrari, Pininfarina, and Tag Heuer. Each car will have two or three ultra-luxurious suites. The train will also feature a dining and lounge car.

Once the train starts service, a two-night – three-day trip from Tokyo station will cost 200,000 Yen ($ 2000).
