Virgin Australia rolls out Hat Valet service in time for the Melbourne Cup Carnival

Hats have been a racing staple since time immemorial. And that’s what has caused Virgin Australia to swoop in and make this next smart move. The airline has rolled out a Hat Valet service to not only pamper a posh customer but also their decadent headdress, all in in the lead-up to the Melbourne Cup.

Those flying south for the big race now have big respite from ending up with squashed cases containing remains of what used to be a hat. Virgin Australia understands that flyers’ titfers are not to be trifled with. And especially not when en route the “race that stops a nation.” “We know how valuable racing headwear is, with racegoers investing more than $53.3 million on fashion for the carnival last year, including more than 80,000 hats and fascinators,” said representatives. “We are looking forward to going the extra mile to ensure premium handling of the most important fashion accessory. “

For this purpose, porters will remain on standby. The Hat Valet service will allow eligible guests with carry-on baggage to check in their hatbox straight from the lounge and skip the terminal altogether. Porters will then hand-deliver the hatboxes to the aircraft. Upon arrival in Melbourne, the hatboxes will be personally returned to the guests. What’s more is that there will also be a range of pre-flight pampering options, including blow-dries, make-up kits by Model Co, and shoe-shining service.

The special services have been made available exclusively in Virgin Australia’s newly transformed Sydney domestic lounge. The lounge stretches across two levels, seats 500, and features illuminated bars, curved glass privacy screens, and other unique design elements. Group Executive of Corporate Communications, Danielle Keighery, said, “the Melbourne Cup Carnival is one of Australia’s most loved events, and we are delighted to make that final styling touches a little bit easier for our guests during their stay in our new Sydney lounge. ”
