Baguette? Check. Rosé? Check. Fresh salad du jour? Check. French cheese and charcuterie? Check. And a whole lot of other picnic-y goodness, check! Because when in Paris, nothing says ‘Parisian’ like a picnic! Be it under the shade of the Eiffel Tower, on the banks of the Seine, along the Canal St-Martin or perhaps in hilly Parc Buttes-Chaumont. And Paris Picnic understood that well. I’m talking about the Katya Kroupnik and Patrick Johnson venture, which, “Pepe,” a vintage yellow Piaggio in tow offers patrons customized picnics.
Who could’ve imagined that having a mobile phone would now also mean having a readymade picnic in as little as an hour’s notice! But thanks to Paris Picnic, Parisians and tourists alike are now not only picnic blooper proof (how many times have we really remembered everything we needed!) but also in a position to order one out of four types of ‘pique-niques’. All one has to do is log on to the Paris Picnic website from their computer or mobile device and choose from ‘Le Classique’, ‘Le Chic’, ‘Le Nautique’ and ‘Le Bonbon’.
Then just punch in the number of people, the date, time and delivery location, and type of wine or champagne and voilà! Now, if you’re wondering which to pick, you must know that they have some of the best suppliers in Paris, such as Emperor Norton, Chez Manon, Ma Cave Fleury and produce suppliers from the local market. We’re drooling over ‘Le Bonbon’, the sweet and delicious picnic with champagne, macarons, fresh fruits, fine chocolate and pastries (65 euros for 2). Needless to say, we can’t wait for our next trip to Paris.
