French castles to ski lodges in New Zealand – Airbnb Luxe offers ultra luxury rentals across the globe

While I truly believed Airbnb was always the more affordable and practical accommodation option, I stand corrected. The American hospitality platform has set out to revolutionise the luxury rental home segment with Airbnb Luxe. The premium version has been specially curated for customers that are keen to spend an upwards of $1,000 a night. Of course, the steep price tag is overflowing with a cocktail of colossal private homes, beautiful views, and state-of-the-art amenities.

Airbnb Luxe is an extension of the hospitality brand’s services, meddling into a market already owned by international hotel chains and boutique properties. Booking with the premium version grants one access to an expert trip designer that tailors your trip as per your needs. With Luxe, Airbnb is treating its patrons to more of an experience than a regular vacation. The service goes well beyond standard norms and extends to a host of services like arranging bespoke experiences, private chefs and massage therapists.

The luxury tier of Airbnb is slated to make a debut with over 2,000 luxury hand-picked homes. It says the new tier was made possible by its 2017 acquisition of the company Luxury Retreats.

“Airbnb Luxe is built on the deep expertise in luxury travel Airbnb gained from its acquisition of Luxury Retreats in 2017. This new tier launches with more than 2,000 handpicked homes around the world, each one passing strict evaluation across 300-plus criteria to meet standards in both design and function,” reads the company’s blog post on the announcement.
