While we do love a good jewelry-style Serpenti watch, Bulgari is impressing us with their dedication to more complex timepieces. The house has finally revealed their Diva Finissima Minute Repeater, a watch that combines the glamour of diamonds and pink gold with the horological complexity of a minute repeater; and it’s not just any repeater, but the world’s thinnest one!
The 3.12mm thick hand-wound caliber BVL 362 Finissimo movement is an impressive feat from Bulgari’s watchmakers. The watch’s minute repeater is activated using a slide on the case which is decorated with a diamond studded fan.
This ultra-thin 37mm watch features an 18k pink gold case and its lugs are studded with brilliant cut diamond. The crown, hour markers and small seconds are all set with diamonds, but these aren’t the defining factors of the watch at all. That honor goes to the dial which has been crafted using the Japanese technique of lacquering the dial first with black Urushi lacquer before sprinkling it with gold dust. The effect is dazzling but not over the top, a subtle dial for a subtle timepiece.
The black dial is complemented by a black alligator strap for a polished look. Bulgari has created only 10 of these Diva Finissima Minute Repeaters and each one is priced at $187,000.
