Richard Mille has introduced a new limited edition timepiece to celebrate the launch of McLaren’s $2.1 million W1 hypercar

The ongoing partnership between Richard Mille and McLaren has spawned a new limited edition timepiece, celebrating the launch of the British automaker’s latest halo car, the McLaren W1. Created to set a new benchmark, the RM 65-01 McLaren W1 combines Richard Mille’s expertise in highly complex watches with McLaren’s constant pursuit of perfection and unmatched performance.

The watchmaker pushed the boundaries of horological engineering for the latest timepiece to justify its association with the W1, a ground-breaking successor to two of the greatest supercars ever – the McLaren F1 and McLaren P1.

The tonneau-shaped case is made of Carbon TPT, a composite exclusive to Richard Mille in watchmaking. It comprises multiple layers of parallel filaments obtained by dividing carbon fibers. The case also incorporates the brand’s thinnest titanium bezel to date, measuring just 0.50mm at its thinnest point.

Housed inside the case is Richard Mille’s Caliber RMAC4 skeletonized automatic winding movement. It is equipped with the watchmaker’s latest-generation split-seconds mechanism. The 6-column wheels ensure optimized simultaneous movement, maximal function locking, and greater adjustment durability.

The movement offers a power reserve of approximately 60 hours, while the fast-beating free-sprung balance ensures accuracy to 1/10th of a second. The timepiece also has a ‘rapid winding’ system with a special push piece made from orange quartz TPT.

McLaren’s signature colors are represented across the watch’s skeletonized dial. Furthermore, the timepiece is available with both orange and black rubber straps. The RM 65-01 McLaren W1 is limited to 500 examples, each priced at CHF 320,000 (approximately $374,000).
