Super Mario and Tag Heuer get together for a $2,150 limited edition smartwatch

The energetic Mushroom Kingdom hero, Super Mario, is here to make times good again! TAG Heuer and Super Mario have joined forces to create a limited edition version of Tag’s Connected Wear OS smartwatch. Your favorite video game plumber will be adorning your wrists in various watch faces and animations. He will encourage wearers to get active and reward them when they move. The more active you are, the livelier the watch’s dial will become. With Mario in the loop, one can expect some gaming fun too.

The watch is equipped with a “gamification rewards system” where Mario will greet you with a salute each morning, and as you move about, you’ll get different animations as you hit 25, 50, 75, and 100 percent of your steps target. These take the form of Super Mario’s famous objects: at 3 o’clock, the Super Mushroom makes Mario grow, at 6 o’clock, the Pipe that allows him to travel fast; and at 9 o’clock, the Super Star makes him invincible lights up! And when you reach 100% of your daily step count target, Mario climbs the Goal Pole, another iconic feature of the video game. For this limited edition, TAG Heuer’s famous Connected watch faces come packed with exclusives, both in the digital experience, it delivers and on the watch itself in some striking Super Mario colors.

For a watch that’s not too big, the makers have packed in several Super Mario touches. Push buttons, crown logo, and bezel graduation now come in Super Mario red, and the letter M is engraved on strap buckles. The watch boasts a built-in heart rate monitor, compass, accelerometer and is water-resistant to 50 meters. Just like Mario keeps going on in the game, shroom after shroom, the 45 mm watch emulates his active nature and comes with a battery that lasts between six and 20 hours. The words “TAG Heuer x Super Mario Limited Edition” are also carved into the back of the watch. Tag Heuer is only making 2,000 models for $2,150, available in selected TAG Heuer boutiques and at www.tagheuer.com in some regions, from 15th July 2021.
