Last week at Salone de Mobile, Swedish company Hästens unveiled their spectacular new creation: a £100,000 bed called Vividus. The family-run company is well known for creating expensive and luxurious beds and the latest addition is an enviable piece of furniture crafted by specially selected artisans who invested 320 hours into the creation of each bed.
Immense thought and expertise has gone into the creation of each element. From hand-sewn layers of horsehair and cotton to the redwood pine bed frame from north Sweden, only the finiest materials have been used. The bed is upholstered with the brand’s signature blue checkered fabric.
Jan-Erik Leander, Master Craftsman of the Vividus, said, “Vividus is a unique project for craftsmen, enabling them to work daily with techniques that have been practised and developed for more than 160 years. To be part of a team making the world’s best bed is a prestigious assignment that few people are privileged to be a part of.”
“It is a bed made without compromises in materials, time or craftsmanship. We cherish each bed from start to finish like a part of our own family. I believe that is what gives Vividus a soul and character of its own,” he added.
