Former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, aka the Red Rocker, is selling his one-of-one LaFerrari, which will be crossing the block at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale Auction on January 27. Out of all the Ferraris the rock legend has owned over the years, the LaFerrari is an absolute favorite; he describes it as “the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.” While Ferrari built 499 examples of the coupe version of the hybrid hypercar in the last decade, Hagar’s 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari is a one-of-a-kind example that features a bespoke cream-white exterior that has an equally interesting story behind it.

Back in 2014 when Hagar visited Ferrari’s Maranello factory to configure his LaFerrari, he was unhappy with the standard colors on offer. That’s when his eyes went to a picture of a Prancing Horse from the 1960s that had a unique off-white color paint job. Hagar demanded the color to be replicated, which resulted in the creation of the only cream-colored LaFerrari in the world.

However, the bespoke exterior paint is not the only unique thing about Hagar’s one-off LaFerrari. The 76-year-old asked the highly skilled people at Ferrari to customize the cabin of the LaFerrari to match the interior of his private jet that’s covered in off-white colored leather and carbon fiber. It’s the same jet that Hagger used for flying to Italy to configure his LaFerrari. For a video released by Barrett-Jackson on its official YouTube channel, the Red Rocker parked the hybrid hypercar next to his jet a Challenger 300 inside a hanger. Hagar even took Craig Jackson, Barrett-Jackson’s cofounder, out on a spin inside the airport, giving him a small teaser of what the LaFerrari is capable of.

“It’s the cornerstone of our Supercar Salon,” says Craig Jackson on the LaFerrari. “What better car to have as the cornerstone than a one-off, and having Sammy there, his energy . . . it’s going to be spectacular.” The Ferrari Halo car is powered by a hybrid powertrain made up of a 789 hp 6.3-liter V12 engine and a 161hp electric motor, with a cumulative power output of 950hp and 664 lb.-ft of torque. The LaFerrari is capable of sprinting from zero to 62mph in less than 3 seconds and can hit a top speed of 217mph.

Hagar claims the power is a little too much for him to handle, which is why he wants to sell it. “It’s an incredible machine and I’ve adored it since I took delivery of it in 2015, but the time has come to pass it on to someone else who will hopefully enjoy it as much as I have,” Hagar said.

The existing examples of the LaFerrari rarely come up for sale and end up fetching a lot more than its original $1.5 million starting price. A few months back, a blue-color LaFerrari was sold for $4 million at an RM Sotheby’s auction. However, Hagar’s hypercar might end up selling for a lot more, not only because of its ownership but also the fact that it’s a bespoke example. Furthermore, the Ferrari only has approximately 1100 miles on the odometer, making it practically unused. It will be interesting to see if Hagar’s LaFerrari ends up becoming the most expensive example ever sold.

Sammy Hagar’s private jet
The American rock legend and entrepreneur owns a Challenger 300 which helps him keep up with his demanding schedule. It was in 2012 when Hagar reached out to Bombardier to sell him a like-new Challenger 300 jet. He was immediately sold when he saw a fully customized 2008 model with only 220 flying hours on it. Hagar’s private jet features a rather simple white exterior with silver stripes. However, it’s the interior where the jet is truly special. While most private jets feature wood veneer, Hagar’s jet is bathed in carbon fiber which contrasts the off-white leather upholstery. The Bombardier Challenger 300 is a super mid-sized business jet that has a range of 3,100 nmi (around 3570 miles) and a cruising at a speed of Mach 0.8 (around 614mph). Originally it was designed to accommodate up to eight passengers before updates were introduced.
