The trend is prominent as, right from Kylie Jenner, who boasts a gallery full of expensive Hermès Birkin bags, to 28-year-old “WAP” rapper Cardi B, they all love and flaunt a huge Birkin collection. She even gave fans another glimpse at her coveted purse collection on Instagram Tuesday, sharing a snap of her impressive array of Hermès bags. So far, there are 26 and counting, but it is expected that this is not Cardi’s entire collection. Last October, Cardi showcased another set of Birkins, but fans were quick to notice that the hip-hop artist’s collection has increased exponentially since the previous brief glimpse. Could the ‘B’ in Cardi’s name stand for Birkin? I believe so!
The pregnant star was recently spotted in a series of photos, showing off her baby bump in a skintight Mugler dress and a larger-sized, camel-colored bag with contrasting leather piping, side pockets, and an attached miniature satchel and cardholder on the front. The photos also showed her 26 Birkins casually arranged on a table. Call it an ultra-dishy multi-million-dollar buffet with yummy leather delectables in lip-smacking colors. Cardi’s Birkin collection also included rare numbers in camo print, red bandana paisley, multicolored stripes, and several exotic skins, such as croc and python, in various colors.
The star buys not all her Birkins, and some were gifts from her husband Offset. She’s also spoken up about racist reactions to her Birkin-filled closet, asking last year, “Why is it that y’all asking female rappers if they could get a bag from the Hermès store? Y’all don’t do this to these white celebrities. So why is it that y’all gotta be asking us? Hip-hop, we start trends. When y’all say that we devalue s—t, no, we actually add value.” For those wondering if Cardi B enjoys keeping them as centerpieces in her living room, no, she doesn’t. Like the Kardashians and Jenners, even Cardi B keeps her financial investments carefully displayed on a wooden shelf.
