Guests sipping cocktails in an idyllic Caribbean resort were taken aback upon seeing Jeff Bezos’ mammoth $500 million Koru superyacht sailing on the horizon, with onlookers comparing the 416-foot-long vessel, with 20-story-tall masts, to a menacing pirate ship.

Tech tycoon Jeff Bezos and his unmissable showstoppers, you simply can’t ignore them. No, it’s not his fiancée Lauren Sanchez turning heads, but the eye-catching megayacht Koru, which seems to command attention wherever it sails, much like his lady love. This time, the $500 million sailing giant made waves in yacht haven, the U.S. Virgin Islands. In a recent TikTok video, the mighty Koru interrupted the serene Caribbean view in dramatic fashion. But what else can one expect from the world’s largest sailing yacht, owned by the Amazon founder and the world’s second-richest man, with a staggering net worth of $236 billion?

The Bolongo Bay Beach Resort captured the moment from its lively outdoor bar, where patrons were soaking in ocean views with lively, foot-thumping music in the background. Suddenly, the camera zoomed in on the horizon, revealing a colossal yacht slicing through the idyllic scene, shared The Cooldown. The sight was so surreal it could’ve been mistaken for a diabolical pirate ship storming a peaceful utopia, its towering three masts rising in full glory.

This isn’t a vessel that simply sails by unnoticed; Koru commanded all the attention. The video was aptly captioned: “That moment when you’re on vacation hanging out at the pool bar in St. Thomas, and Jeff Bezos decides to sail by on his superyacht just outside the bay.” Social media didn’t hold back.

As Koru does not have a helipad, it is mostly accompanied by its support vessel the Abeona.

One user commented, “But [you’re] told to conserve and be concerned about climate change! Wonder what his private jet looks like?” Another shared, “I docked by his other one in Barbados, it had a helipad with a helicopter parked on it.” A cheeky remark added, “It’s giving giant pirate ship.”

This wasn’t Koru’s first visit to the region. Back in December 2023, the 416-footer was moored at the yacht haven Grande Marina in St. Thomas, dwarfing neighboring vessels. The 3,300 GT Oceanco masterpiece took up space typically reserved for two or even three motor yachts. When a luxury yacht nearly twice the length of an Airbus A380 cruises by, it’s impossible to ignore, and the video proves just that. Without Koru stealing the spotlight, Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, a small, family-owned Caribbean gem, offers guests a personalized, unforgettable experience. Spotting Koru may be a rare treat, but if it happens, it’s sure to be the highlight of any stay.
