Another day another stunning luxury timepiece has joined Mark Zuckerberg’s fast expanding watch collection. The centi-billionaire was spotted wearing one of Patek Philippe’s most prestigious timepieces at the Trump inauguration. The Meta CEO, known for his traditionally understated style, wowed enthusiasts by sporting the opulent Patek Philippe Ref. 5270/1R-001 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph, a masterpiece that retails for approximately $175,000.
The 5270/1R, dripping in 18k rose gold from case to bracelet, beautifully showcases Patek Philippe’s watchmaking prowess, combining two of horology’s most sophisticated complications: a chronograph and perpetual calendar.
What makes this appearance particularly noteworthy is the watch’s striking presence. The 41mm case, coupled with its distinctive “goutte” (droplet) style bracelet, creates an unmistakable statement on the wrist. The ebony black sunburst dial provides a dramatic contrast against the warm rose gold, while applied gold hour markers and sophisticated complications speak to the watch’s technical mastery.
This particular reference features Patek’s in-house manual-winding caliber CH 29-535 PS Q, comprising 456 immaculately finished parts. The movement, visible through the sapphire caseback, showcases the manufacturer’s exceptional finishing, including polished beveled angles and Geneva stripes that continue seamlessly from one bridge to another.
The watch’s perpetual calendar displays the day and month through a double aperture at 12 o’clock, while a sophisticated moon phase indicator and chronograph functions add to its complexity. These features, combined with the tachymeter scale and sandblasted chronograph hands, make it one of the most sophisticated timepieces in Patek’s current collection.
Watch industry analyst Maria Henderson commented, “Seeing Zuckerberg wear the 5270/1R is fascinating. It’s a watch that typically appeals to established collectors who appreciate both technical sophistication and classical aesthetics. This could signal a shift in Silicon Valley’s approach to luxury timepieces, where technical excellence meets traditional craftsmanship.”
This is not the first Patek timepiece to be acquired by Zuckerberg. In fact, the 40-year-old’s first luxury timepiece was a $141,000 Patek Philippe Grand Complication 5236P in platinum. However, the most expensive Patek owned by Zuck is Patek Philippe’s reference 5303R Minute Repeater Tourbillon worth a whopping $1.2 million, which he was spotted wearing almost two months ago.
