With the world slowly inching towards sustainability, it’s time we made responsible purchases too. A message that renowned singer Beyonce has tried to give out and a little too blatantly at that. We’re referring to the lyrics of her new album called Renaissance. Giving a glimpse of her closet in the song’s video, the diva describes designer labels including Versace, Balenciaga, and Givenchy but quickly moves to the Telfar. “This Telfar bag imported,” she sings while adding, “Birkins? Them sh*t’s in storage.”
Made from vegan leather, the Telfar has already been trending with celebs such as Oprah Winfrey and Bella Hadid being its ardent buyers. Beyonce’s mention of it in her song is expected to skyrocket its sale even further. According to Vogue Business, views spiked 85% on The RealReal resale site the day the Renaissance album was released, pointing towards the soaring interest of viewers in the bag.
Further, the term ‘Telfar’ now has 149.6 million views on TikTok, with fans sharing the brand’s collections as well as inspiring stories about founder Telfar Clemens all across the internet. However, it’s not going to be as easy for one to purchase the vegan bag. The arm candy, also referred to as ‘Bushwick Birkin’ is difficult to shop for, much like the original Birkin. The marquee’s website currently lists all its already popular shopping bags, which retail from $150 to $257 depending on size, as sold out or yet to be released.
While Beyonce may have popularized the Telfar with the release of the Renaissance, it seems to be a long wait before we can get our hands on one!
