When Louis Vuitton staff snubbed a Chinese millionaire, she returned with $84,000 in cash, making them spend two hours counting every bill before casually leaving without buying anything.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and the aloof sales assistants at a Chinese Louis Vuitton store can certainly attest to that. Mainland social media is abuzz with news of a clash between the staff of a luxury brand store and a wealthy woman in China. After being dissatisfied with the service she received, this determined woman decided to teach the LV sales staff a lesson by returning to the store two months later with a staggering $84,000 in cash to settle accounts—quite literally.

The woman, who guys by the handle Xiaomayouren, took to the social media platform Xiaohongshu to share her bitter experience at the StarLight Place shopping center in Chongqing in June. Despite entering the store with a pricey Hermès handbag, the staff was far from cordial to the woman, who was eager to buy clothes and explore the latest collection. Not only did they neglect her request for drinking water, but they also disinterestedly led her to the old collections with nothing more than a dismissive gesture. The cherry on top of this unpleasant experience was the staff’s haughty attitude, rolling their eyes and acting impatient when she asked for assistance with sizes. Feeling disheartened, she followed up with a customer complaint to Louis Vuitton headquarters, but to no avail.

One might think two months are enough time to move on from the incident, but this wealthy Chinese woman had other plans. She returned to the store with a large bag containing 600,000 yuan, accompanied by her personal assistant and a friend, according to SCMP. After the sales staff spent two hours counting the money, she refused to make any purchases, telling them, “We don’t want to buy now. We are leaving.” She later explained on Xiaohongshu, “After they finished counting it, I just took away my money and left. How could I buy their products to improve their work performance?”

As expected, the story went viral, with many people siding with the woman, especially those who have witnessed such attitudes firsthand. “This ending is so satisfying. I’ve always wondered why these shop assistants are so arrogant,” commented one user. Another quipped, “They sell luxury goods, but it doesn’t mean they are luxury goods themselves.”
