Barbie may be having a fashionable run, wearing Hervé Léger first, then going graphic with Sadie Williams but Blythe is here to give her competition. Blythe who? The one with the super-sized head and large eyes that was created in 1972! This Hasbro has-been is back on our radar, color changing eyes et al, dressed in none other than the latest Bottega Veneta. But that’s not it! Formerly, 11 inches, the model is back in special life size incarnations.
In celebration of the in-store and online launch of the brand’s spring/summer 2014 collection for women, the fashion doll can already been seen in the windows at Fifth Avenue Windows in New York (until 20th Feb.), Ginza in Tokyo (until 16th Feb.), Sloane in London (until 19th Feb) and Sant’Andrea and Montenapoleone in Milan (until 3rd March). But before we tell you what we think of the chic life size editions, here is what Bottega Veneta’ Creative Director Tomas Maier had to say.
“The collection is about freshness and Blythe is known for her uniqueness as well as her sense of style, wears it effortlessly and with confidence. The result is surreal, reflecting a dynamic combination of elegance and modernity.” Said combination can be best seen in Nero Ardoise Refine Ramie’ Cotton Compact Organdy Dress ($2,695), Nero Sand Mist Refine Ramie’ Cotton Skirt ($3,745) and Nero Refine Ramie’ Cotton Top ($3,885). A dolled up Blythe is proof! She will also move to Montaigne and Faubourg in Paris from 20th Feb until 3rd March 2014.
