After giving the luxe treatment to several trophy projects, including the NBA, League of Legends, and FIFA, Louis Vuitton is now set to unveil the carrying case for the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix trophy. Yes, that’s right!
As part of its long-term partnership with Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM), the marquee has designed a special trophy case to celebrate the 79th edition of the annual racing event. It has been handcrafted in LV’s traditional workshop just outside of Paris and includes the classic monogram pattern in a red and black backdrop – to represent the colors of Monaco’s flag.
In addition to the above, the trophy features an oversized “V” in red and white that is symbolic of victory. The white stripe also stands for the street circuit of one of the most spectacular racetracks in the world. Inside the case sits the iconic trophy that is a replica of the 3,337-km circuit with its famous 19 bends.
Commenting on the case, Michael Burke, Louis Vuitton Chairman and CEO, said, “Fangio, Hill, Moss, Stewart, Senna, Prost, Schumacher, or more recently Alonso, Vettel, Rosberg, Ricciardo or Hamilton, the Monaco Grand Prix has celebrated the greatest champions. At almost 300 km/h between the rails, it is the Formula 1 Grand Prix that all drivers aspire to win one day. “
He further added, “Today, we are proud to be associated with the championship and to start writing a piece of history together. ‘Victory travels in Louis Vuitton’ – the Trophy Travel Case will witness future victories and continue to carry legends!”
Remarking similarly, Michel Boeri, President of the Automobile Club de Monaco, added, “Apart from being a major partnership with the flagship brand of the LVMH Group, we are delighted that the trophy awarded to the winner of the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco™ can now safely travel in ‘first class.”
“Louis Vuitton and the Automobile Club de Monaco are at once forerunners and project supervisors in their respective fields of expertise. Louis Vuitton is associated with the most coveted trophies in the world. This emblematic partnership allows the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco™ trophy to benefit from this heritage, bringing unprecedented elegance into the world of motorsport,” he also noted. Handcrafted by three specialized artisans at Louis Vuitton’s atelier in Asnières, the Formula 1 trophy trunk was presented to the winner of this year’s Monaco Grand Prix, Sergio Perez, at the French Riviera on May 29, 2022.
