When it’s wrong, one can undo. But when it’s excellent, one must redo. Case in point: the revival of the iconic Louis Vuitton x Murakami collaboration. Twenty years after their magic left an indelible mark, the spells have been cast again as Louis Vuitton and the renowned contemporary artist Takashi Murakami celebrate the 20th anniversary of their era-defining partnership with an extensive re-edition collection.
This 200-piece collection brings back playfully profound creations, featuring a colorful reinterpretation of the Maison’s Monogram pattern. LV x Murakami Chapter One includes everything from belts to skateboards and even a custom Malle Wardrobe containing 33 Speedy bags. Murakami’s iconic motifs and characters adorn over 170 House items. The Monogram Multicolore looks stunning on the Dauphine Soft, OnTheGo, Venice, and Speedy 25, and equally charming on smaller leather goods like the Vanity Pouch, Nano Diane, and Nano Speedy.
The collection’s standout pieces are the exceptional trunks, which exude a vibrant aesthetic that elevates their joyful appeal. From belts, wallets, and sunglasses to silk carrés and the custom Malle Wardrobe, every item bears the unmistakable touch of the legendary Japanese artist. As a new year begins, the world is once again filled with hope, as accessories flaunt playful flowers, panda, and the Creatures from Planet 66.
Murakami has also reimagined fragrances, with the magical Superflat Garden adorning the cylinder packaging for Imagination and Attrape-Rêves. A travel case scent trunk showcases the Monogram Multicolore on one of the most luxurious white canvases.
The first drop of the Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection launched worldwide on January 3, 2025.
