In a daring heist, thieves used a battering ram vehicle to smash into a Louis Vuitton store in Paris, making off with hundreds of thousands of dollars in luxury goods

Louis Vuitton, the world’s premier luxury fashion house, has not only captured the hearts of fashion aficionados but has also become a prime target for high-stakes robberies. In the early hours of Monday, the Louis Vuitton store in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, became the scene of such an incident. Four thieves used a battering ram vehicle to break into the store and made off with an undisclosed amount of loot that is still being evaluated. According to Actu17, around a hundred items were stolen, making it easy to assume the damage will surpass several hundred thousand euros.

The thieves forced open the store’s gate at approximately 4:30 a.m., but the burglary was only discovered around 6:30 a.m., giving them ample time to gather valuable items. As expected, a full force of Parisian police was dispatched to the scene, including officers from the 3rd Judicial Police District (DPJ) and the 5th and 6th arrondissements. The Banditry Repression Brigade (BRB) of the Paris Judicial Police is currently handling the case. Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris is home to several luxury stores offering high-end fashion, accessories, and lifestyle items, such as Hermès, Cartier, Dior, and more. Louis Vuitton stores, in particular, have been frequent targets of robberies, with several high-profile incidents occurring in the United States as well.

It seems the store is back in operation, as appointments are being offered to customers according to the LV website.

Back in 2021, thieves stole around $100,000 worth of merchandise from a Louis Vuitton store in Chicago. A similar smash-and-grab operation took place in San Francisco, where suspects escaped with goods before police arrived, according to The Independent. Louis Vuitton’s boutique on London’s Sloane Street has been especially unfortunate, having been ransacked three times over the course of three years from 2014 to 2017, reported WWD.
