Cadbury has launched its first-ever plant-based vegan chocolate

Think chocolate, and one name that is a household staple is Cadbury. The marquee has been making delicious treats all these years, but not much that could please the vegans. However, in changing that, it has recently launched its first-ever plant-based chocolate.

Called the Cadbury Plant Bar, the chocolate comes in two flavors- Smooth Chocolate and Salted Caramel. The vegan-certified bars include a blend of cocoa, almond paste, and rice extract and promise a lusciously smooth texture and all the goodness of chocolate.

Unlike Cadbury, brands such as KitKat and Galaxy were quicker to deliver to the needs of vegans. In acknowledging its delay, however, the brand issued an ‘apology letter’ that read: “Dear plant-based Britain, we’re sorry…Sorry, it seemed like we weren’t listening to your calls ….”

It further added, “…sorry for all the other chocolate you’ve had to eat while you waited. And, just as with plants, perfection takes time. But the Cadbury Plant Bar is finally ready (with) a deliciously smooth chocolate without the “glass and half. We hope you’ll agree it was worth the wait.”

Noting similarly, Marketing Manager at Cadbury, Michael Moore, said: “We’re delighted to finally confirm that the rumors swirling around Cadbury Plant Bar are true! We’ve worked hard to add this delicious, dairy-free option to our iconic range, and we can only apologize for making our fans wait.”

In addition to the contents of the new chocolates, the brand has also adopted an all-inclusive, eco-friendly packaging for them. They come wrapped in 100% plant-based packaging made with International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) certified and renewable plastics.

Cadbury’s new vegan 90g chocolate bars were launched in Britain’s Sainsbury’s stores in November 2021 for $3.40 (approx.). The brand will soon introduce them at newsagents and other supermarkets across the UK as well.
