In commemorating its 60th anniversary, Diptyque has launched a limited-edition collection of perfumes and home fragrances. Titled “Le Grand Tour,” the ensemble aims to take one a sensory trip across the world.
Consisting of five fragrances that represent the cities of Paris, Venice, Milies, Kyoto, and Byblos, the collection presents an olfactory travel experience of sorts. The first in the lot is a Parisian aroma (190 g candle, $105) by Olivia Giacobetti that comes packaged in a green-colored vessel and is inspired by the scents of old books and polished wood.
Next in line we reach Venice (Set of three travel-size Eaux de toilette, $95) that is represented by Cécile Matton with a set of three travel-sized perfumes arriving in a carrying pouch. Each of them boasts scents from vegetable gardens, the Mediterranean breeze, and herbal freshness.
Moving on to the Greek village of Milies, Olivier Pescheux’s fragrance (Scented oval room diffuser, $70) features notes of Ambroxan, fig wood accord, and cypress with tassel and marble beads. Kyoto, on the other hand, is represented by perfume (100 mL eau de toilette, $190) with scents of incense, rose, and vetiver, packed into a rose-purple bottle. It has been concocted by Alexandra Carli who was inspired by ikebana and has even read several books trying to understand the philosophy behind it.
Arriving lastly at the coastal city of Byblos in Lebanon, the candle (300 g candle, $165). by perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin includes notes of cardamom coffee and white musk in a luxe marble container. “My idea was to transcribe the scents and colors of the souks, the stalls brimming with seeds, spices, and colorful powders,” Pellegrin exclaims on it.
Commenting on the collection, Cécile Matton said, “Fragrance has the power to create a motionless journey. “When you travel, everything you see, feel, and the smell gets intertwined. Olfactive memories are some of the strongest.” Diptyque’s ‘Le Grand Tour’ collection is now available at the brand’s stores as well as online.
