Dolce and Gabbana’s $40,000 hand-painted refrigerators belong in opulent mansions or better yet…museums!

With Dolce and Gabbana, fancy is a given! Whether it’s their limited-edition collection of pasta, or intricately designed and executed kitchen appliances, Dolce and Gabbana doesn’t hold back on the awesomeness. Speaking of kitchen appliances, Dolce and Gabbana are dishing out (pun intended) designer refrigerators for your splendid mansions and they would put your art collections to shame! The designers teamed up with the Italian appliances brand Smeg to produce 100 limited-edition FAB28 refrigerators, all of which are hand-painted by artists specially commissioned by Dolce and Gabbana themselves. The refrigerators prove to be stunning canvases for artist Salvatore Sapienza who has completely transformed the regular appliance with romantic scenes from Italy. Each of the models features a collection of design elements in a montage that pays tribute to the Italian heritage right from medieval knights to cartwheels, lemons to Trinacria symbolism.

Buyers are told, “Extravagant luxury is fused with utility when Dolce & Gabbana join hands with Smeg to create a Made in Italy line of appliances in exclusive numbers. Among the beautiful results of this collaboration was the FAB28R-DG/SP09PB refrigerator. These refrigerators need to be viewed as not just an appliance but a collector’s item that brings together art and utility in the best possible way! These luxurious products by Dolce and Gabbana are selling for $40,000.
