Michelin and celebrity chefs come together at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel

If you’re in Bangkok in September this is one culinary festival, you surely should not miss. The who’s who of the restaurant business will take over Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel for seven days at the 17th annual World Gourmet Festival from the 19th to the 25th of September. We’re talking names like Bobby Chinn, Chef Mauro and the likes. Nine chefs, hand selected from San Pellegrino’s 50 Best Restaurants will dazzle you with their culinary skills during this week long event heralded by a champagne lobby concept featuring six prestigious houses; sake & cocktail master classes, a perfume pairing event and the grand finale – a Sunday Brunch like no other!

Here are some of the chefs we’re looking forward to…

Internationally renowned TV host and that one chef who is always smiling no matter what – Bobby Chinn! Chinn is both funny and skilled and there is lots to love about this half-Egyptian, half-Chinese culinary sensation. He takes over Aqua bar and lounge with his band on the evening of 24th September (9:00 pm to midnight) and is the headline act at the World Gourmet Festival’s annual closing ceremony and Sunday Brunch on 25th September. Sunday brunch is offered from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm | THB 4,500++ per person including free-flowing champagne and entertainment.

mauro colagreco et menton
Chef Mauro Colagreco is another personality we are looking forward to. Founder and chef at two-Michelin star restaurant Mirazur, Menton in France voted as one of the premier restaurants in the world in 2009. What we like most is Chef’s personal cuisine style inspired by three themes: the sea, gardens and mountains. You can sample his culinary sensations at the Madison restaurant on 23rd and 24th September. Each of his five sumptuous courses will be paired with champagne or wine and are sure to bring a piece of Mirazur to Anantara Siam. Nightly seating at 7:00 pm | THB 6,900++ per person including wine pairing.

Ana Roš, co-owner and Chef at Hiša Franko, Kobarid in Slovenia is another Chef that has developed her own unique cuisine. The flowery, herbal yet delicate and precise nature of Chef Ana’s cooking, has made her the only woman so far to have joined the Cook It Raw environmental and cooking initiative. You can sample her fresh cooking style with locally sourced Thai ingredients and impeccable wine at the Spice Market restaurant on the 23rd and 24th September. Nightly seating at 7:00 pm | THB 6,900++ per person, including wine pairing.

This is one name that all lovers of seafood will know, notably fans of the very famous restaurant Ministry of Crab, Colombo in Sri Lanka. Dharshan Munidasa founder and chef delights us with traditional Sri Lankan food stemming from local street fare. His dishes have a strong ingredient focus employing the use of fresh local produce alongside Japanese culinary principles. You can experience his innate talent and cooking techniques at the Spice Market restaurant for a seven-course dinner on 19th and 20th September. Nightly seating at 7:00 pm | THB 5,000++ per person, including alcohol.

The 17th annual World Gourmet Festival is your best chance to catch your favorite maestros in action – so go ahead and send your taste buds soaring!
