Although it’s been forever since the release of Lord of the Rings, the Peter Jackson-directed film is just as iconic even today. So much so that even the demand for hobbit holes still stays. And catering to it is this hotel in New Zealand that is now welcoming guests for a delightful ‘Hobbiton’ experience.
As per reports, New Zealand’s Woodlyn Park is allowing Lord of the Ring fans to rent out an underhill hobbit hole near the Hobbiton movie set and other similar locations. The unique abode can sleep up to six people and provide ample space to lounge around through the day.
Inside, one can find a double bed and two bunk beds, as well as a large bathroom, kitchenette, and living area. It further features round doors, windows, and grass growing over the top of the units, as seen in the 2001 movie.
For those wanting to tour the surroundings, there’s plenty to explore, such as the famous Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, Mangapohue Natural Bridge, and of course, many of the trilogy’s filming locations. Others wanting to take it slow can, of course, stay in and enjoy the unique interiors instead.
Commenting on the experience, a user on Tripadvisor wrote, “We booked the Hobbit Unit for a family of four and loved it! Very clean, great check-in, and such a unique experience,” while another added, “This has to be the most interesting place we’ve ever stayed in over many years, and I’m glad we did.”
Another hotel in the vicinity providing a similar experience is Underhill. It features hobbit-style accommodation handcrafted with rustic native timbers and ironwork, overlooking a pond and green pastures.
Although New Zealand won’t be opening its doors to vaccinated international travelers until April 2022, it is where you must head for a Hobbiton-inspired holiday!
