Missouri Mayor Jayson Stewart just made his Cool Valley even cooler by planning to give every household $1000 worth of Bitcoin. Cool Valley has about 1,500 residents in the St. Louis County area. In an interview, Jayson Stewart told Bitcoin Magazine, “It’s given me a new way of thinking about humanity in the future,” Stewart said. “It’s given me hope and an optimism that we can overcome some of the worst parts of the system that we’re born into, and actually create a future exactly how we want it to be. There’s a certain level of hope and optimism that I get from Bitcoin.”
He initially announced plans of giving away $500. As expected, the statement generated a lot of buzz and garnered a lot of attention and extra funds from the country. These surplus donations will be used to explore energy-efficient initiatives in the town. The mayor firmly believes that bitcoin will be instrumental in bringing about social change and community improvement. He said to Bitcoin Magazine, “Bitcoin is fundamentally American. It is the most American thing. Our government is built on freedom and personal liberty, and rights and self-sovereignty, and all of the things that Bitcoin really is.
I think it’s a natural marriage that Bitcoin in America will thrive.” Jayson Stewart is an environmental expert and entrepreneur, and bitcoin fits all of his endeavors perfectly, which has led to the air dropping of bitcoins.
