Frank Muller launches the world’s first functional Bitcoin watch at $50K

The Swiss watchmaker has released a new limited edition timepiece named “Encrypto,” which is being touted as the world’s first functional Bitcoin watch. Created in collaboration with cryptocurrency trading platform Regal Assets, the timepiece is available in several different versions for both men and women and is limited to 500 examples for each model. While the 45mm case of the watch has Frank Muller’s instantly recognizable Curvex (which most people call tonneau) shape, the dial features bitcoin’s logo in the center and a QR code of bitcoin’s genesis block address. Customers can further customize both the dial and the band of the watch. Each timepiece comes as a two-piece “Deep Cold Storage” set, with its own unique public address etched on the dial and a sealed USB containing the private key. Users can add their Bitcoin to their wallet or check their balance directly through the dial. The watch’s QR code and cold storage system were designed in partnership with Regal Assets. The deep cold storage wallet uses “offline generated, non-deterministic TRNGs (True Random Numbers Generated) and the company claims it cannot be hacked.
