Details on the priciest residential deal in Santa Barbara County history:
Consisting of two neighboring parcels of land in the affluent seaside enclave of Carpinteria, the oceanfront buy is like no other. Together the two parcels create a 10-acre, fully contiguous compound with a private pathway leading to the beach.

Separately, the land pieces include a Tuscan farmhouse-style mansion on 3.4 acres for which the duo paid $41.7 million, and a mostly vacant 6.6-acre plot of land with a small lake and vast lawns right next door worth $28.2 million.

More on Ellen DeGeneres’s generous oceanfront purchase:
Complete with five bedrooms and eight baths in just over 9,000 square feet of living space, the residence spans across three floors. It features a beige-hued terracotta-roof structure with high exposed wood-beam ceilings, hardwood floors, stone archways, and marble accents.

Further, the home also includes a one-bedroom, one-bath guesthouse, and an attached three-car garage. Other striking features consist of a family room and dining area that connect to a gourmet kitchen, a wine cellar, a state-of-the-art movie theater with reclining leather seats, and a master retreat complete with a spa-equipped terrace, and dual walk-in closets and baths.

Plush amenities, sits-outs, spas, and a mosaic pool complete the mansion:

The entire home is part of the original 22-acre Loon Point compound, which was acquired together by retired hedge fund manager and billionaire Bruce Kovner and his wife Suzie beginning in 2007. It is called the “Sanctuary at Loon Point” and was listed on the market for a cool $160 million last year.

DeGeneres and wife de Rossi own multiple other Santa Barbara-area properties. These include a cottage in the Hedgerow District of Montecito two other petite Montecito cottages and an 1880s-built horse ranch.

Well, talk about remarkable real estate deals!
