If your dream house includes a Porsche in the driveway, wait until you see what Porsche has done with the idea of a prefab home that can be ready in five months and cost only $1.5 million

A Porsche can take up to 12 weeks to be delivered, with wait times sometimes running into half a dozen months if you choose to customize it. Or, you could choose to order a Porsche prefab home, which can be ready to move in, in just five to seven months. Studio F.A Porsche and timber specialist GRIFFNER have come together to offer discerning customers their very own Porsche-designed pre-fabricated home.

Architecture meets industrial design and the concept of industrial prefabrication in the Floating House by Porsche and GRIFFNER. The two-storey structure gets its name from the illusion that the second floor is suspended in air.

This is thanks to a first floor facade made up of black glass tiles invisibly attached to the structure, by hand, through a patented process. Being a prefab, and modular at the same time, the Floating House design can be scaled in width, height and depth to be adapted to any property.

The standout design element is clearly light, with ceiling heights up to 19 feet, making for exceptionally airy interiors.

The exterior of the house can be erected in as little as two weeks, or about the regular lead time for a Porsche vehicle build. Considering this prefab home wears a starting sticker price of $1.5 million, it’s not exactly a shoe-in for a Porsche 911 order. But for the well-heeled with an eye for design, nothing can be cooler than a home designed by the legendary Studio F.A Porsche.
