Unless you’ve been living under a rock, I’m sure you’re aware that SUVs are all the rage these days. What started as utilitarian workhorses, SUVs are now available in all different flavors. You can get yourself something like a Lamborghini Urus to get supercar-like performance or a Rolls-Royce Cullinan to show off your wealth. But in case you’re looking to buy something truly badass, this monstrous off-roader should be your choice. Meet the Scarbo Vintage SV Rover, an 1100hp behemoth that makes a G-Wagen look like a toy. Scarbo Vintage is the same California-based company that built Ken Block’s Hoonipigasus Pikes Peak race car; so you know it has proper credentials to back its latest creation.
While the SV Rover’s styling might remind you of the a classic Land Rover, it’s more of a road-legal trophy truck designed to tackle the most challenging off-road conditions. The gigantic SUV is not based on any existing vehicle and is built upon a completely bespoke platform. The vintage-style bodywork is made from aluminum and carbon fiber to make the SUV as light as possible; although, there’s no lack of horsepower.
Buyers will get to choose from two powertrain options. In case you want something loud and burly, you can go for the V8 version. Interestingly, the supercharged V8 engine is mounted in the middle like a mid-engine supercar. It is connected to an 8-speed paddle-shifted automatic transmission and capable of producing 1100hp.
Those looking for a greener option can choose the electric version which get a 1,005-hp electric powertrain and a 75-kwh battery pack. Both variants get 4-wheel drive thanks to a transfer case with high and low ranges. The SUV also has front and rear locking differentials. The SV Rover features 40-inch tires mounted on 20-inch wheels and gets inboard pushrod front and rear air suspension setups offers 30 inches of wheel travel.
Additionally, the four-wheel steering makes the gigantic vehicle maneuverable. On the inside, you’ll find an Alcantara-lined cabin has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.8-inch main display, and a pair of Sparco racing seats. Each SV Rover will be made to order and has a starting price of $1.5 million.
