If seeing is believing, then you better believe it, the superyacht Alfa Nero, has finally left the shores of Antigua and Barbuda. Seized and stuck in Falmouth Harbor for over two years since February 2022, the vessel was caught in a legal limbo as the government’s attempts to auction it were repeatedly thwarted by legal hurdles and claims from multiple parties. Nicknamed ill-fated due to the seemingly endless back-and-forth over its ownership, the yacht has now departed the tiny island nation for good.
As Luxurylaunches, reported earlier, the new owner is a Turkish billionaire who acquired the 267-footer for $40 million, a significant markdown from its original $120 million price tag (the alleged previous owner was sanctioned Russian oligarch Andrey Guryev). The Oceanco beauty, designed by Nuvolari Lenard with interiors by Alberto Pinto, is currently sailing under the Maltese flag in the Caribbean Sea. While Marine Traffic clearly shows the yacht, which features six cabins, has left Falmouth Harbor far behind, there is no clear destination listed. A glance at the live map reveals that the closest port to Alfa Nero is Fort-de-France, which is expecting three motor yachts, though Alfa Nero is not among them.
Regardless, it seems the tumultuous days of legal tangles and injunctions are finally over. The vessel, known for its stunning amenities like a swimming pool that transforms into a dance floor, helipad, gym, spa, and beauty salon, is poised to regain its former glory. After being moored and motionless for so long, the idle days are behind it, and Alfa Nero will soon be showcasing its maximum speed of 20 knots and cruising speed of 15 knots.
