Aston Martin finally hits the seas with its first powerboat

The Aston Martin AM37 is the company’s first yacht and it seems to be well in place when it comes to creating a frenzy among its loyal fans. Built in partnership with Quintessence Yachts, this powerboat is the fruit of years of research and development. The boat will be on show at the Milan Design Week and carries forward the car manufacturer’s key attributes of distinctive performance, handling, comfort and style.

What many would describes as the yacht equivalent of a convertible car, the AM37 has a sliding deck, which is made of three carbon fiber panels that cover the cockpit. A simple click of the remote control button is all it takes to keep all things unwanted, outside. The rear deck also retracts so as to accommodate a retractable sunshade that covers the passenger area. The boat will be available in a number of engine options with the AM37 S being the most powerful as it offers a pair of 520 horsepower engines that can take the boat to 52 knots. There’s also a lighter version available with two 370 horsepower engines.

This could well be an extension to what Mr. James Bond travels in, in his movie franchise. “It is true that a beautiful, simple shape is critical to a product’s success but it must also have drama, which is provided by surface language, proportions, and through the choice of exciting materials,” says the company’s Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman. “The most important attribute for Aston Martin is the language of design and we have transferred this language into AM37. The new powerboat represents the ideal combination of luxurious and technical materials, generating a powerful yet understated finished product.”
