Bentley Continental GT Convertible Number 1 Edition rounds off the trio of special centenary models

Bentley has taken the wraps off its newest special edition model which has been created to pay tribute to the 1929 No. 1 Bentley Blower. The new Bentley Continental GT Convertible Number 1 Edition created by the brand’s Mulliner customization division is the third special edition model built by the Crewe-based manufacturer to celebrate its 100th anniversary; the previous two models include the Bentley Mulsanne W.O Edition introduced last year and the Continental GT Number 9 Edition revealed a few months back. The Number 1 Edition can be had only in Dragon Red II or Beluga black with either a Claret red or Beluga fabric roof. Other special touches on the exterior include a white painted “1” that decorates the center of the grille, 18-carat gold-plated fender badges and 22-inch wheels that are available in Gloss Black or Cricket Ball brown. Bentley has also equipped the special edition with its Black Line Specification package and Carbon Body Kit.

The interior comes wrapped in leather upholstery in either Cricket Ball or Beluga and features Grand Black wood veneer for trim parts and 18-carat gold plated touches. The highlight of the cabin is the wheel spinner emblem in the center of the dashboard’s rotating display which is cast out of a piece of the 1929 No. 1 Bentley Blower’s piston. Mechanically, the special edition is identical to the standard model and is powered by twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 engine that churns out 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. The power is transferred through an eight-speed automatic to all four wheels. Bentley claims that the droptop can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 207 mph. The pricing is yet to be announced but only 100 examples will be built of the special edition.
