Former President of Bugatti, Wolfgang Dürheimer, famously told Bloomberg: “The average Bugatti customer has about 84 cars, 3 jets and one yacht.” Obviously, the owner of a $4 million hypercar would hardly care about its fuel efficiency. Yet, it’s still an intriguing question: how many miles can a Bugatti Chiron with its massive W16 engine travel before it needs to make a fuel stop? A TikTok user from Munich who goes by the name of “Bugattimaki” on the social media platform came up with a very surprising answer. No one is stupid enough to expect a Chiron to be as fuel efficient as an econobox, but the 27-year-old from Munich claims Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Carbon has a shocking range of only 100 kilometers (~62 miles) on one tank of fuel.

The TikToker, whose real name is Marinko Marjanovic, released a 7-second video to talk on this topic. He says it takes a whopping 200 euros to brim the fuel tank of his Chiron Pur Sport Carbon. The hypercar’s fuel tank has the capacity to hold 100 liters of fuel, which Marjanovic fills up with premium 102 octane gasoline for 2.139 euros/l. But the 100 km range of a tank full is startling, even if the Chiron owner doesn’t believe in going gentle on the throttle. Interestingly, the French hypercar would empty its 100-liter fuel tank in nine minutes at top speed.

What’s more surprising is that Bugatti states that the Pur Sport has a mixed fuel consumption of 22.5 L/100 km, which basically means the W16 hypercar has a range of around 400 kilometers (~248 miles) on a full tank. While Marjanovic’s claimed range can be taken with a pinch of salt, the comments on the TikTok video are amusing. One user commented, “I can get further with the electric car,” while another user quipped: “Isn’t there an Eco mode? Turn off the air conditioning, that might help!”
