If you’re wondering what could make a $200,000 car like the Mercedes-AMG G 63 be worth over ten times the value, the answer is in the details. Built by Carlex Designs, a Polish company specializing in limited-run customs, the G-Falcon is the ultimate car for falconry fans. It’s no wonder the $2.6 million G-Falcon has found a home with a millionaire in Dubai. Carlex took over four years to build the one-off and the detailing around the SUV is nothing short of artistry, no matter what your take is on how tasteful it is.
Featuring a body kit by Carlex themselves, 24-inch wheels, and a Carlex-exclusive diamond-dusted paint finish topped with a hand-engraved roof, the G-Falcon can be stared at for hours, just soaking in all the details. About 2.2 pounds of diamond dust is mixed into the paint to achieve a shimmering finish that the company says needs to be seen in person to be fully appreciated.
The shimmering finish accentuates the brushed steel look achieved in the paint job, set off by the hand-engraved metal brightwork around the car. The roof was hand-engraved using a dremel tool and then attached back to the structural supports.
Carlex has spruced up the G’s interiors, with natural leather that’s been recolored and patinated to give the interiors a deep, rich look.
The seats themselves have been re-contoured to offer more support than therapy. Necessary, in a lumbering SUV like the G-Class.
The G 63’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 hasn’t been messed with but we’re still talking well over 570 horsepower capable of hurtling the SUV from 0-62mph in a shade over four seconds.
We’re not sure if the G-Falcon’s new owner will ever take it out into the desert for a falconry run, but we doubt there will ever be a vehicle more suited to the task than the Carlex G-Falcon.
