Is there anything more inspiring than rags-to-riches stories? I began my day with a hefty dose of inspiration from Carolyn Aronson, Founder & CEO of It’s a 10 Haircare. While not exactly rags, her childhood was filled with its fair share of challenges. The 58-year-old businesswoman was born in New Jersey, spent her early years in foster care before being adopted by a family in Michigan. A hairdresser by age 18, she opened her first salon, Allianza, in Southfield, Michigan, at 32.
In 2005, she and partner Scott Scharg founded It’s a 10 Haircare with just a $40,000 investment. Their breakthrough came with the launch of their first product, the Miracle Leave-In Conditioner, which catapulted them to success. Aronson later became the sole owner of the company, growing it significantly, from $200 million in retail sales in 2017 to $500 million in 2022, reaching 73 countries. It’s a clear example that hard work, perseverance, and vision pay off. After all, hers was the only haircare brand owned by a woman to air a Super Bowl commercial.
But Aronson’s story doesn’t end there. She also embarked on a new adventure at sea, starting with a small yacht, She’s a 10, in 2014. She’s a 10 was last asking $8.5 million when it was sold in May 2022. With her success, she upgraded to the magnificent 177-foot She’s a 10 Too, in 2024. “She’s a 10 was my first superyacht, and I learned everything about it, from maintaining the engines to managing a crew. Now, armed with this knowledge, I’m excited to announce that I will be building my next yacht, She’s a 10 Too, completely from scratch. It’s going to be sleek and sexy, equipped with state-of-the-art features, and have the strength and speed to travel the world.”
However, the superyacht’s journey took an unfortunate turn when, on January 12th, She’s a 10 Too, a stunning creation by the acclaimed Alberto Mancini, caught fire at Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale. According to the popular YouTube channel Esysman Superyachts, the fire likely started in the engine room.
Despite the tragedy, the Fort Lauderdale firefighters contained the fire within 20 minutes, limiting the damage to the yacht. According to the Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, no one was injured, thanks to the swift action of the crew and firefighters. This beautiful luxury vessel, which had only spent one summer in the Mediterranean and completed a single transatlantic journey to the U.S., escaped severe damage and is expected to be fully repaired. It’s reassuring to know that this vessel, owned by a woman who empowers other women, will be back to its pristine condition.
A fiery vessel that perfectly blends luxury and endurance—a true 10 on 10
The Italian-made 177-footer is an elegant testament to her owner’s impressive growth in the industry. With a top speed of 30 knots, it combines speed, aesthetic appeal, and superb performance. The yacht boasts nearly 1,814 square feet of outdoor space, a spacious beach club, and a large glass-walled infinity pool that accommodates 12 guests.
Six opulent cabins provide an exquisite experience, and the upper deck offers breathtaking views. After repairs and refits, there’s no doubt that She’s a 10 Too will once again live up to its name as the perfect 10.
