Even the best in the world have off-days. Just ask Ferrari Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc, fresh from the glory of winning the Italian GP, the home race for the team. Leclerc had the misfortune of rear-ending another car in his own hometown of Monaco, while behind the wheel of his $400,000 Ferrari Purosangue super SUV. The star driver for the Ferrari F1 team took delivery of his 715-horsepower Purosangue earlier this year.
The Purosangue is just a little down from the 1,000-horsepower Ferrari SF-24 he pilots for a living, so it should be a walk in the park for him to drive. In a video uploaded by Instagram page supercar.fails (the video was attributed to another user), we see a Ferrari Purosangue in Argento Nurburgring with diamond-cut alloy wheels approaching the famous Fairmont Hairpin as a bus goes by in the opposite direction.
From Monaco itself, Charles Leclerc has 7 F1 championship wins under his belt.
It appears the driver of the super SUV was distracted by the bus, creeping forward and tapping the car ahead, a VW Golf filled with passengers. It’s at this moment that the driver leans forward and we see it’s Charles Leclerc. Leclerc and his passenger don’t seem too fussed about the minor fender bender, though. The two continue their conversation with a wave of their hands. It appears that no one in the car that was bumped gets down to check for damage either.
Unfortunately for Leclerc, a bystander got the whole thing on video, otherwise it would’ve been just another day in Monaco. Incidentally, that very corner is part of the Monaco GP, just run in the other direction. If Leclerc ever needs an excuse for a fender bender, that’s a good one.
