In an unusual merger of historical architecture and cutting-edge automotive technology, Danish businessman Jørgen Hansen purchased a Koenigsegg Gemera hypercar to display at the historic Broløkke Manor on Denmark’s Langeland island. The car, which won’t be driven but instead used as a static display, represents one of the most powerful production vehicles ever created.
“We hope it can attract people to Langeland,” Hansen told FAA about his unique plan to boost tourism at the centuries-old estate, which he acquired in 2021 for 20 million Danish kroner (roughly $2.7 million).
The Gemera, which recently entered production at Koenigsegg’s facility in Ängelholm, Sweden, represents a technological tour de force. Powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine combined with Koenigsegg’s proprietary “Dark Matter” electric motor, the hybrid hypercar produces an astounding 2,300 horsepower. This makes it the most powerful model ever produced by the Swedish manufacturer, capable of accelerating from 0 to 62mph in just two seconds and achieving speeds over 249mph.
Limited to just 300 units worldwide and priced at over 30 million Swedish kronor (approximately $2.9 million), the Gemera stands out not only for its performance but also for being a practical four-seater hypercar – a rarity in this segment.
The decision to display the Gemera at Broløkke Manor adds a contemporary attraction to a site steeped in history. The manor, originally named Brobjerg, dates back to the 16th century and features architecture from various periods, including wings from 1758 and 1873. Today, it operates as a hotel and restaurant facility, with Hansen actively working to increase its appeal as a tourist destination.
The Gemera will be displayed without registration plates, emphasizing its role as an artistic and technological showcase rather than a functional vehicle. This unusual approach to displaying one of the world’s most capable cars in a historical setting creates a striking contrast between classic Danish architecture and modern Swedish automotive engineering.
The exact arrival date of the Gemera at Broløkke Manor has not been announced, but with production now underway at Koenigsegg’s facility, visitors can expect to see this unique attraction in the near future. The display will offer visitors the rare opportunity to see one of these limited-production hypercars up close, in a setting far removed from the typical automotive showroom.
