After delivering the world’s first sustainable sea-based mobile floating fire station, Dubai has now expanded its protection services with another first, a floating smart police station. Scheduled to be ready by the end of 2026, this is a part of a series of strategic projects valued at $544 million launched by his highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE. A smart police station, or SPS, will offer advanced services at sea to yacht and boat owners and water sports lovers.
Their roster includes a package of 27 primary services, including the filing of criminal and traffic reports, and 33 additional services, all available in six languages. From finding and returning lost items to taking care of requests and permits, all services will be available around the clock. These centers will deploy artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics to enhance processes and operations.
The futuristic SPS (Smart Police Station) boasts almost a catamaran-style design that considers the shapes and accessibility of boats and yachts, making the process of arrival, boarding, and disembarking fast. The sea-based fire station implemented by Dubai Civil Defence achieved a response time of four minutes and was 70% more cost-effective than traditional marine fire stations.
Given these advancements, it is reasonable to anticipate that the SPS will aim to match or surpass these performance metrics, striving for even faster response times and greater cost efficiency. Dubai takes raising the quality of life seriously. It is the smartest and happiest city in the world for good reason.
