The most exciting thing about the 907 horsepower Lamborghini Temerario plug-in hybrid supercar isn’t its styling or interiors or outright power, but the fact that it redlines at 10,000 rpm and goes from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.7 seconds.


An all-new Lamborghini model doesn’t come around often, especially one with an engine that’s been designed from a clean slate specifically for it — the last new V12 was in the Aventador from 2011. This is why the 2025 Lamborghini Temerario, unveiled as the successor to the Lamborghini Huracan, is a big deal. The Temerario packs a 789 horsepower 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, far removed from the seemingly identical engine in the Lamborghini Urus super SUV, and the 602 horsepower of the Huracan’s V10 at launch. This new V8 utilizes a flat-plane crank, a first for Lamborghini, and similar to Ferrari’s unique V8 configuration.


It’s also engineered with plug-in hybrid assistance that can do more than just torque-fill gaps in the power delivery. More importantly, it’s been designed as a high-revving unit from the start, resulting in a screaming 10,000rpm redline which makes it the highest-revving turbo engine that’s also set to enter mass production. If you were saddened by the loss of the wail of a naturally-aspirated V10 with the Huracan, this screamer of a turbocharged engine should soften the blow.


The Lamborghini Temerario is an impressive supercar no doubt, packing 907 combined horsepower and 538 lb-ft torque from the internal combustion engine and three electric motors. Performance is suitably blistering — 0-60mph comes up in 2.7 seconds, and a top speed of 213mph. Even the Temerario’s 8-speed DCT has been redesigned and mounted transversely (like in the Revuelto), still ending up lighter than the Huracan’s 7-speed DCT, while offering faster shifts. The plug-in hybrid system helps the Temerario offer an impressively flat torque curve to make it feel as close to naturally aspirated as possible.

In case you were wondering why Lamborghini ditched the V10, it’s emissions. The Temerario cuts CO2 emissions by as much as 50 percent compared to the Huracan. Also, with two electric motors dedicated to the front axle, the Temerario offers all-wheel drive when required. Strangely, it also offers front-wheel drive in a Lamborghini — it can travel short distances in pure electric mode. The hybrid system’s 3.8 kWh battery takes about 30 minutes to be fully topped up when plugged in. It can also be fully recharged through regenerative braking. Apart from this, the Temerario also sports a drift mode which can aid drivers to pull off big, smoky drifts even if their skills aren’t up to par.

Elsewhere, the Temerario sports a new design with typically Lambo sharp, rakish styling and hexagonal motifs. Aerodynamics have also been given the once over, with the Temerario offering 103 percent more rear downforce than the Huracan Evo, or up to 158% more downforce if specced with the Allegerita pack. The interiors are more aviation-focused than ever and packed full of screens — a 12.3-inch instrument panel, 8.4-inch central infotainment, and an optional 9.1-inch passenger display. It’s even said to be more comfortable for taller drivers and passengers.


Pricing on the Lamborghini Temerario hasn’t been released yet. Considering the outgoing Huracan wears a price tag between $250,000-350,000, while the hybrid Revuelto comes in over $700,000, expect the new baby Lambo to be priced above the Huracan special editions. It may seem like a lot, but the title of the highest-revving turbocharged engine isn’t likely to come cheap after all. With the Temerario, Lamborghini is doubling down on the writing on its walls at least – the internal combustion engine is not dead. At least till its own fully-electric model, the Lamborghini Lanzador, comes in by 2028.
