At 440 feet, Lürssen’s superyacht project Deep Blue is already a star, set to join the ranks of the world’s finest luxury vessels. Not many yachts boast a volume of 9,000 GT, placing her among head-turners like Azzam, Eclipse, and A+. For yachting enthusiasts, watching this goliath emerge from the shed for the first time is as monumental as the motor yacht itself. A series of images has revealed the first look at this secretive superyacht, whose build began in 2021.
Two years later, in July 2023, another glimpse showed her hull being assembled outside the facility on a floating dock, with the bow then joined to the rest of the vessel.
While the design team has yet to be officially announced, industry speculation strongly suggests either Espen Øino or Nuvolari Lenard, two of the most prolific studios behind the world’s largest yachts and long-time collaborators with Lürssen. The latest images unveil a beast in the making, flaunting a bold, tiered aft profile and sleek decks with deep, slope-like overhangs. The five-decker may be called Deep Blue for now, but her shark-gray exterior already gleams with purpose. Twin mirrored staircases descend from her swim platform, and she is powered by eight impressive MTU engines.
With an estimated delivery date of 2025, Deep Blue will enter the Top 100 rankings as the 24th longest yacht in the world by overall length. She is rumored to be owned by an Indian or Chinese billionaire, and SuperYachtFan estimates her value at around $450 million. Once delivered, she will rule the high seas alongside similarly sized icons like Koru and Dragonfly.
