McLaren confirms 570S Coupe, an entry-level sportscar with 562 horsepower on tap

McLaren today announced the first model in its Sports Series family, the 570S Coupe. The British marquee released a teaser shot of the mid-engine sports car along with some preliminary details. Slated for a debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show, the McLaren’s new entry-level sports car will use the familiar 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 tuned to 562 horsepower, or 570 PS, hence the name. That is 10 more horsepower than the Porsche 911 Turbo S, the car it aims to compete with. Other than the name and power output, all we know from McLaren is that the 570S will offer “class-leading levels of performance coupled with optimized handling characteristics and driving dynamics.”

As of now, we don’t know how the McLaren 570S Coupe looks but the teaser image hints that it will look just as exotic as the top of the range models in the McLaren line-up. More details and images of the McLaren 570S Coupe will be announced next week ahead of the car’s global unveiling at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
